ABOUT TOTALLY LOCALLY PICKERING

We are a small bunch of volunteers, business owners and groups that care passionately about Pickering. We don’t have any stuffy rules, we aren’t part of any council or government, we are just people who care, and who want to make a difference.

We all know our high street plays a big part in the future of our town. A thriving high street means a better place for us all to live, a nicer place for us to visit and a positive legacy left for our kids. And who doesn’t want that?!

So we have joined with the national Totally Locally campaign (which started in Yorkshire, just down the road from here) to promote, improve and talk up the positives of our town.

This has been made possible with the support of David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority via the Vibrant and Sustainable High Street Fund – designed to rejuvenate and reanimate high streets across York and North Yorkshire.

We hope you will join us, even if it’s just making a conscious effort to not go straight to Amazon when you want something, but to consider looking up one of our wonderful local businesses. If everyone did that, it would start to make a big difference to how our high street looks and feels.

Join us. Love Where You Live, You Might Just Make It Better!

A big thank you to you from us all at TL Pickering.

ABOUT TOTALLY LOCALLY’S NATIONAL CAMPAIGN FOR HIGH STREETS

Totally Locally is a campaign designed to bring a spark to our community by promoting local independent businesses and events. It has become so successful because of the core idea that together, we are stronger.

When businesses support each other, they become more cherished by locals, helping to sustain the local economy. It’s known for its “relentlessly positive” approach – no negativity, all positive thoughts and actions!

The campaign only has few rules, but the most important one is BE NICE. Leave your ego at the door – it’s about everyone working together.

The campaign relies on non-structure, goodwill, and everyone contributing a little bit to the “community pie”. Meetings are designed to be the ones businesses want to attend – enjoyable, held in social places like cafes and pubs, with no formalities like ties, minutes, or chairpersons – just fun!

You can learn more about the national campaign via the Totally Locally HQ website and see what other towns have achieved with it, gaining the confidence to make changes in their communities without sitting around waiting for anyone else to do this for them.

If you run a business or just love where you live and want to make it better, get in touch to find out how you can get involved!
