During lock down I started doing afternoon teas from my home in West Yorkshire, that took off and during that time my parents moved to Pickering, the tea rooms was a cafe that became available so I decided to take a chance and take it on. I moved myself, husband and 4 children to North Yorkshire nearly 4 years ago and here we are.
We are an extremely small family run business, my family work with me. I bake everything myself, brownies, blondies, cakes and scones are baked fresh every day, everyone seen to really enjoy our scones. Our meats are all cooked fresh.
I would never serve anyone anything that I would not be willing to eat myself. It’s definitely been a struggle since taking over the Tea Rooms with us not being local but we have the most amazing customers and a lot of them I now call friends. Not a lot of people know that the Tea Rooms is named after my only daughter Ivy. We serve the most amazing afternoon teas.
The thing I love about Pickering is the people that I’ve met thought the Tea Rooms.
