Pickering Book Tree is a family business which we opened in the late summer of 2022.
Nestled at the heart of the Market Place, the 18th century building, with an upstairs space framed by original oak beams is the perfect place to discover your next read in a calm and welcoming environment.
And not just books, but bookish gifts, National Book Tokens, cards and wrapping paper and a wide range of art supplies and beautiful notebooks by Paperblanks too.
Our loyalty card scheme (for both adults and school students) as well as our select offers, often make us cheaper than buying on line. And for each completed loyalty card we donate to sustainable forestry projects worldwide.
We are always on hand to recommend books. If we don’t know something on the spot we’ll find out and get back to you as soon as we can. We’re also keen to hear about authors and books you love too!
Having a positive impact both locally and globally – in our own small way – is at the heart of what we do!
Community is important to us. We try to give back where we can. Since opening our shop in the summer of 2022, we have donated hundreds of books to local schools. Each year we support 20 schools with free books on World Book Day.
Not only are we open seven days a week, 10.00 until 4.00, we also hold regular evening events hosting authors and folk/ acoustic musicians.
Did You Know…
If a book is not our shelves, we’ll order it for you. In most cases that means it will be available for next day collection.
